Add Variants to a Brand-New Product on Shopify

In this post, we're going to mention how to add variants to a new product on Shopify. The fact that variants play a crucial role in an online shopping store so adding variants to products is important for increasing sales. When a product has its several variants displayed on the website, customers tend to decide to buy the product easier because there are more choices including their favourite ones (colors, styles,..). 

Below is the step-by-step instruction on how to add variants to a brand-new product on Shopify store. 

How to add variants to a new product

Step 1: Add product

Log in to your Shopify admin as usual, then go to the Products section on the main navigation. 

On the products page, click on the Add product button at the top right corner of the page to create a brand-new product.

Step 2: Add variants

Once you're in the new product settings, scrolling down until you see the Variant section then click on the tick-box to start adding variants to the product.

Step 3: Enter Option Name

In the Option1 area, the Size is the default name for the variants but you can change it to another that fits your wish. Just click on the name box, enter your variant name manually or you can choose one from the drop-down menu. 

Step 4: Enter Option Values

After add the variant name, you move to add the variant values. You click on the bigger box next to it and enter each variant value (eg: with Size: S, M, L,..). Remember to seperate them with a comma. 

Step 5: Create another variant option

If the product have more than one option, you can add another by clicking on the Add another option button under and continuing to add its name and values as the steps above. You just have maximum 3 options to add variants to the product.

Step 6: Manage variant option

Scrolling down a little bit, in the Preview section, you can see the variants settings. You can manage all of the variants of the product here by modifying its price, quantity, or SKU. 

Step 7: Save variants

After adding all the variants you want to the product, you need to click on the Save button at the bottom right or at the top bar to save all the changes.
